Can I buy a one-way ticket and use it for the return journey within the 240-minute validity period?

I wanted to buy a round-trip ticket from Bellinzona to Milano Malpensa T1 (06:41 - 09:19), but the system doesn’t let me buy the round trip because the time difference is less than 240 min. Does that mean that I can use a one-way trip ticket (06:41) as a round-trip, within those 240 min?

Yes, this is correct. Even though it’s a one-way ticket, you can use it to travel anywhere within the paid zones and during its validity.
