Swiss Pass

I have an 8 day Swiss Rail Pass. On the first day of use my departure station is Bregenz, Austria and my arrival station is Luzern, Switzerland. Is that journey covered by the Swiss Pass even though I start is Austria, or do I need to purchase a ticket to St. Margarethen station and then activate my Swiss Rail Pass.

The Swiss Travel Pass is only valid within Switzerland. For all routes which are not included in the area of validity you need a new ticket.
