Hi. I am planning to travel from Bern to Milan.

1. I understand that the train from Bern to Domodossola is covered under the Swiss Travel Pass, however, is it free under the STP?

2. Hence, could I just book a train ticket from Domodossola to Milan?

3. What website can I use to book the train? Could I just use Trainline to book the train from Domodossola to Milan?

4. If I book the train ticket from Domodossola to Milan, do I need to get off the train, or could I just stay in the same train?

Yes, the Swiss Travel Pass is valid to Domodossola. You will find the validity map on this page under “More on the topic”.

You can book the train from Domodossola to Milan on SBB.ch. You will just need to enter your connection in the timetable. If you book via Trainline, you will need then to contact them in case of changes or refunds.

Of course you can stay in the same train. Please note that on EuroCity connections in Italy (from Domodossola) the seat reservation is compulsory and included in the ticket price. I suggest you seat where indicated on your ticket from Domodossola to Milan right from the start of your trip (if the seat is available).
