Seat reservation from Domodossola to Brig for Sep 3, 2023

Hi. I am trying to make seat reservations from Domodossola to Brig for Sep 3, 2023 but getting the error “The requested seat category is no longer available.” (for both 2nd and 1st class)

This train normally starts from Milan and goes to Brig, but the route from Milan to Domodossola is not running from Aug 21 and Sep 10. So, I am booking it from Domodossola to Brig.

I am not able to make this seat reservation for any of these dates. Reservation is possible for other dates when the full route of this train is active.

Are reservations not allowed for these dates OR are they sold out?

Appreciate any help.

Due to construction works, a seat reservation is not possible. The EC trains are not going through and are partially replaced by buses.

For a regional travel from Domodossola to Brig, however, I do recommend to use the RE and IR trains which run frequently between these stations. They usually have fewer passenger numbers compared to the EC which are most of the time fully booked.

In regional trains, a seat reservation is neither required nor possible, it is free seating in the respective travel class.

Right, I confirm you that the construction works will be near Milan. The remaining part of the trip (from/to Domodossola) will not be affected.

Are the EC trains not running even from Domodossola to Brig? I see them in the search results and I was able to book the ticket by selecting this option. Screenshot 2023-07-16 at 10.06.26 AM.jpg

The website showed that the interruption is only between Milan and Domodossola, so I booked this. Unfortunately, other regional train options do not get me to Brig on time to catch my connecting train from Brig.
