What is the best ticket option for 3 days in Switzerland?

Hello,

I am traveling in a small group of 4 adults. We are arriving in Frankfurt and taking the train to Luzern, same day. The second day we will take the train from Luzerne to Zermatt for the day and return that night. The third day we will take the train to Brienz then return to Luzern to take a one-way train to Salzburg.

What would be the best option for back and forth travel? Is the Swiss Travel Card the best option for our itinerary?

Would you help me understand how the pass works? Since we will traveling to several spots in Switzerland (Luzern, Brienz, Zermatt) do we get discounts on train tickets or are they free while we have the pass?

We’ll be in Switzerland for 2 nights, 3 days then travel via train to Salzburg.
