Day pass for 2 (starting Sept 17) on panoramic trains like the Gotthard express

My wife and i will be arrving into Geneve on Sept 21.

Q1. Can i buy my Swiss half day pass at the Geneve airport?

Q2. I notice the Day pass for 2 offen starts on Sept 17 onwards. Can i use that for panoramic express like Gotthard Express and Golden Express?

Thank you for your query.

You can buy the Half-Fare Card directly at an SBB railway station. The Day Pass for 2 is valid on the Gotthard Panorama Express and the GoldenPass. Please note that a seat reservation is obligatory for Panorama trains.

I arrived at Geneva this morning. I went straight over to the SBB counter at the airport. I was so dissapointed that the representative refused to sell me the Day Pass for 2 tickets.

He made me read the french lines which i obviously could not read and he insisted that it was not available for me being a US Citizen. I told him about all the communication i had with you and planned accordingly.

He refused the half day pass with Day pass for 2 tickets and; he made me buy the 8 day pass for Ch398 each for me and my wife. I was totally dissappointed and was not planning to spend so much.

So i had a very sad beginning on the first day of my arrival and a big hole in my travel cost plan.

I hope somehow you can help fix this.

Yes, the Swiss Half Fare Card costs CHF 120.-. You can buy this card at every SBB train station within Switzerland.

I’m sincerely sorry for what happened. If you are 11 days in Switzerland and you travel 8 days, the Swiss Travel Pass is the best option for your trips.

With the Swiss Half Fare Card (https://www.sbb.ch/en/leisure-holidays/travel-in-switzerland/international-guests/swiss-halffare-card.html) it is not possible to buy a Day Pass for 2. This card allows you to buy half-price tickets however, if you make long trips during the day, Swiss Travel Pass is the best deal (cheapest).
