I have been trying to purchase tickets thru SBB.ch website for a trip from Zermatt to Florence several times in the past 24 hours. However, at the last step of the process (which is credit card payment), I get the following message: “Unable to connect to authorisation system. Please try again later.”

Is there a technical problem with SBB or maybe the counterpart system in Italy?

The problem might be that your credit card does not support 3-D secure, as I mentioned in this post: Train ticket payment confirmation. You may try buying it from Trenitalia.

RolandP Thanks for the advise. I am based in Singapore and all credit cards here are required to be 3D Secure-compliant. I will try the TrenItalia website.
