Add a co-travelling child on SBB mobile app

Good day,

I bought a Half fare card for 1 month on SBB website. Before the purchase I added my child of 9 years old to get a Swiss family card.
I checked that my Half fare card and a Swiss family card for my child are both visible in my account on SBB website and SBB mobile app.

In my account on SBB website I chose an option “Children’s Co-travel card” for my child. And when I’m looking at tickets, the ticket for my child is free. But in SBB mobile app there is no such option as “Children’s Co-travel card”. Only the following: Half fare card, GA Travelcard 2nd class and GA Travelcard 1st class. That’s why if I’d like to buy tickets via the SBB mobile app, the ticket for my child is not free. What should I do in this case to buy tickets via the SBB mobile app?

Or do I need to choose my child at all when buying tickets on the website/mobile app? Maybe I misunderstood and I don’t have to buy one for my child? And then when there is a conductor check I just need to show my Half Fare card and my child’s Family card in the app?

You do not need a ticket for your child when it travels with you, and you hold a valid ticket as well as the Swiss Family Card. The latter is in this case the child’s ticket.

The option Children Co-Travel Card / Junior Card is available on the SBB website for purchasing international tickets, which is not possible through the SBB Mobile app and therefore not available there.

Thank you very much for the answer! I overcomplicated this. It’s clear now.
Excuse me, then I have one more question. If I’d like to buy international tickets (for instance, from Schwerzenbach to Colmar), so I can do it only via the website. The route goes partly in Switzerland (Schwerzenbach-Basel) and then in France (Basel-Colmar). Do I need to buy a ticket separately only for myself from Schwerzenbach to Colmar? And then separately a ticket for my child from Basel to Colmar?

Both is possible:

You can buy tickets for two parts of the trip: Schwerzenbach-Basel SBB and Basel SBB to Colmar. For the first segment, you can purchase an adult ticket, while your child will be travelling under the Swiss Family Card. For the second segment, it is necessary to purchase two tickets, one for you and one for your child.
Or, you can buy a ticket Schwerzenbach to Colmar, and declare the Co-Travel Card for your child. By doing so, the ticketing system will only charge a ticket for your child for the segment Basel-SBB to Colmar.

A personal tip that has nothing to do with the ticket: beware of pickpockets in Colmar, they are numerous there, especially during the Christmas market. It is a beautiful city and worth a visit, just keep your bags closed at all times and carry your wallet and passport under your clothes. You would not be the first one to be a victim.
