In the event of train cancellations, delays or line interruptions, you can take the next possible train without purchasing a new ticket. However, this is only the case when the delay was caused by the railway.
Did you reach the station because there was too much traffic on the road, or because you went shopping and the train had left meanwhile, or you arrived by air and the flight was delayed, in such cases, you are required to purchase a new ticket.
