Seat Reservations - St Moritz to Zurich

Hello

I am trying to reserve seats for my journey from St Moritz to Zurich, then Zurich to Chiasso on 16 January 2024. I have followed the instructions to reserve seats on the SBB.ch website. However it comes back with the below error message.

System interruption. Please try again later. Thank you.

ch.sbb.mct.co.exception.technisch.TechnischAllgemeinException@{20231127040438031#715036614}: BuchungsSystem %1 unbekannt!

I read on another forum that SBB timetable change is occurring 10 December 2023. Is this the reason for the error message as the new timetable has not been finalised?

Does anyone know when the new timetable will be finalised for seat reservation?

Almost together with the timetable change, certain reservation systems will be replaced (by end of the year). This explains why reservations are not possible yet. Try again beginning of January. I admit, the error message is rather cryptic.

In my opinion, there is no need for seat reservations on regular train services, except for your trip, given that you travel on a Sunday late afternoon or evening.

For trains of category IR, RE, R, and S, it is not possible to reserve seats at all.
