We’ve noticed that there are frequent questions on this subject, especially in regards to the time lag between changing a photo and it becoming visible on the online platforms.
A SwissPass with a current photo is necessary to purchase a travelcard with SBB. When it’s time to change your picture, you will receive a request to update your photo. However, the updated photo will only be displayed on the online channels, such as the SBB Mobile app and the SwissPass website, after 30 days or following the first in-person inspection with the SwissPass card.
We understand that this time delay may cause confusion for some customers. However, the reason for this is that we want to ensure that the physical card was sent to the right address or ideally has been used once already. One of these conditions must be fulfilled before the photo is updated online. This procedure helps us to avoid extra administrative work if the customer address is incorrect.
