Some help needed please. I think I have it correct but just would like to check.
January 14-17th I’m travelling Geneva airport to Zermatt and return.
Am I correct in thinking the day save pass is the best ticket? This seems to be 52CF on the 14th to Zermatt and 48CF on the way back 17th.
Should I snap this up as it’s flexible and the best?

I do have a UK FIP rail pass that covers 50% off but not sure how even do that online or if it’s at the ticket office only. That maybe likely to be more expensive if on the day?

Are reservations needed and is the right hand side best to sit on when leaving Geneva.

Please kindly note, the FIP rail pass cannot be used to purchase reduced day passes; it only grants 50% off on point-to-point tickets.

Thus, today, the full fare Saver Day Pass costs CHF 52 on the 14 January, same on the 17 January. That is the lowest possible fare for full fare tickets.

Seat reservations are not possible on your routing, it is free seating. Yes, the right hand side in travel direction is more scenic while the train goes along Lake Geneva (Lac Leman).

Thanks Roland for the quick reply. I’ll book up those day saver tickets up as soon as I can then.

In your opinion is the upgrade to first class worth it for the 20-30ChF?

The above ticket will be for my wife, I have a free coupon from the staff travel which covers SBB/CFF for the journey. I’m sure I read online you can upgrade to first for a few with rail passes. Do you happen to know if that’s a things?
