help: my db ticket IC 185 from Stuttgart to Zuerich HB was cancelled

Dear all.

i need urgent help.

Yesterday, i booked Super Sparpreis Europa for IC 185 from Stuttgart to Zuerich HB (6 Dec 1037h) with seat reservation via SBB website. I just found out the train was operated by DB and cancelled.

Noted from sbb website that international ticket cancellation need to be done a day before the trip in person or via hotline. The hotline is closed now.

need your expertise and advise if i can still get on alternative train. Thank you

You can travel with your Sparpreis Ticket on alternativ Trains.

1) Will i be able to use thar ticket to travel on IC 2160 (11:59 to 12:53, transfer at Karlsruhe hbf) for ICE 73 to zurich (13:11 to 16:00)?

In my opinion, it is advisable to see the DB Travel Office in Stuttgart. According to my information, there will be no direct trains between Zurich and Stuttgart v.v. today. It is likely that the timetable has not been updated yet for trains scheduled later in the day.

You may have to check with DB on the latest status and possible alternate travel routes e.g. via Karlsruhe-Basel SBB.

Your tickets remains valid.

Your ticket was not cancelled. The train was cancelled.

What you need to understand is that you do not have a ticket for IC 185, you have a ticket for travel from Stuttgart to Zürich. While discounted tickets are indeed limited to the train you selected during booking, the moment that your train gets cancelled your ticket becomes a fully flexible one. So you can travel on alternative trains, without needing to do anything. Just find your train, get on, and show your ticket when the conductor comes.
