Class Upgrade Only on a Part of My Journey

Hello!

Would a class upgrade be recognized if I bought it only for a part of my ride?

Example: I am travelling by a train from Bern to Zürich with a stop in Olten. I have a 2nd class ticket for the whole route, but I decide that I want to change to 1st class in Olten. I buy a class upgrade and when the train stops in Olten, I take a seat in a 1st class carriage. Will this upgrade for Olten-Zürich be recognized if it’s accompanied by a ticket for Bern-Zürich?

Yes, this is fairly doable. When you purchase your class upgrade with your smartphone, please be sure to purchase it before the trains departure.

Within Switzerland, you can also purchase class upgrades with the train conductor, on board of IC / IR / EC / TGV / ICE trains. Please look for the train crew. The minimum cost when bought on board is CHF 10, no matter the effective lower cost.
