Hello Toossozach83
You want to travel to Glarus? Is this for a family reason? Otherwise, there are more picturesque towns in Switzerland worth to be visited; there is no reason to bother with Glarus. Yes, a day trip from Lucerne to Glarus is easily doable:
- train Lucerne to Thalwil
- train Thalwil to Ziegelbrücke
- train Ziegelbrücke to Glarus
You could also head from Zurich directly to Glarus, by leaving the luggage in a locker at Ziegelbrücke train station or at Glarus. Going to Lucerne first means a huge detour.
You can find all public transport schedules on www.sbb.ch/en or by using the SBB Mobile app. The trip planner even allows to enter addresses, e.g. of your hotel.
Also, is there a way to see a tabular train schedule that shows scheduled times for trains at specific stations?
Yes, there is, see here: https://www.sbb.ch/en/travel-information/rail-traffic-information/timetable-data-pdf/departure-posters.html?search=Glarus&_charset_=UTF-8&page=1 .
However, the times indicated are static; using the SBB Mobile app is more suitable as it contains the actual timings in case of delays.
Kind regards,
Roland
