Buying ticket from the train staff.

Is it possible to buy a ticket on the train from the staff? If so, how much is the “fine” for buying a ticket on the train?

I will be travelling from Domodossola towards Switzerland, I want to use a network ticket and would like to avoid buying a ticket via mobile. There shouldn’t be an SBB machine in Domodossola.

Since December 2023, it is no longer possible to purchase tickets on the train when arriving from Milan. The same rule is applied as on all trains in Switzerland: no ticket purchase on trains.

There is a ticket vending machine in Domodossola (I just checked with my colleague sitting next to me right now, who lives in Domodossola and works in Brig).

You either have to purchase the ticket in Domodossola, or you purchase the ticket from Trenitalia or SBB online (web or app).

Hello Micha,

Make sure that you have valid tickets before depature of your train in Domodossola. You can buy tickets at SBB mobile app for all destinations in Switzerland or at ticketshop of Trenitilia if you are travelling with Eurcity trains. Plese tell us if you have a problem to buy your ticket at mobile app.
