Hello, I am planning a 5 or 6 days trip to Switzerland from Türkiye during may. Which kind of ticket should I purchase? I am going to stay at Zurich as a base. From there I am planning to trip to cities like Bern, Basel,Luzern,Chur…etc. I am also planning to take Bernina and Glacier Express trains.In this case what kind of ticket comprise all of these as well as public transportations lile buses and trams? Thank you.

You could purchase a Swiss Travel Pass.

On the other hand, besides the fact that Zurich is quite expensive, Zurich is not ideal as a base for train travels. My advice would be to choose a more central location, such as Lucerne, or Bern.

Before you purchase a ticket, you should finish your trip planning in details, and, as the last step, purchase a ticket. Use www.sbb.ch/en to plan your trips.

Hello Roland thank you very much for your reply and advice. So I chose Zurich as a base cause I thought being a big city it’d be easier to travel back and forth. But Bern or Luzern’d be much suitable and economical. Ok then I will check those cities. Can I ask you one more question? I downloaded SBB app and for ex. If I want to buy a ticket from Zurich to Bern there is a segment Supersaver class upgrade which is cheaper than the price shown in the beginning. Than I thought if there is a choice like this maybe I don’t need to buy any type of pass ( Swisspass, Swiss half fare card…etc) since there is a cheaper option on the app. I hope I can make myself clear enough. Thank you.

A supersaver upgrade is an upgrade from 2nd class to 1st class. It assumes you already have a 2nd class ticket, or a pass. It is intended mostly for people who have a 2nd class travel pass that occasionally want to travel 1st.

The upgrade ticket allone is not sufficient for travel.

Note that with only 5 days you will have to temper your ambitions. For visiting the cities you mention, and travelling the Bernina and Glacier Expresses you would need 10 days or more.

My suggestion is to just go to one location (eg Luzern) and spend your time exploring and enjoying the area. That will also save you quite some money too.
