I recently bought a ticket with halbtax but I am not able to use it. Can it be used by somebody else if they don’t have halbtax? Is it possible to just pay the difference?

Yes, provided it is a paper ticket, and not a fare network ticket, and it is not personalised.

Tickets for a trip in switzerland:

If you bought the tickets online they are personalized which means you can’t give the ticket to someone else. You can only ask for a refund before departure if you do not use the ticket, under following link: Refund on tickets in Switzerland | SBB help & contact

But if you bought the ticket at the counter or automatic they are impersonal and on paper, so of course tickets for a Swiss route. That is, in this case, you can give these tickets to someone who has a Half-Fare Card.
The person must have a Half-Fare Card. Otherwise you can refund or exchange the ticket at a counter before it is valid.
