BIKE RESERVATIONS

Hi there SBB Community,
A question if I may please. I have just purchased via the SBB app 2 standard tickets, point to point and two day bike passes. The journey on 2nd June is from Zurich HB to Oberalppass via Andermatt. I understood that I also need to purchase separately 2 bike reservation for travel on any IC train. I think the system is saying that on the Zurich - Arth Goldau leg that there are not any bike spaces available on the IC trains that depart 5 minutes past the hour.
Firstly, is this a correct understanding? Secondly, does this mean that my journey is restricted to the IR trains that day for which a bike reservation is not required?

bike space reservation is mandatory on SBB IC Zurich - Arth Goldau - Lugano. it is best to purchase one with the SBB Mobile app 2 month before your travel date. You can identify mandatory bicycle reservations by the bicycle symbol with R .

May be it is a better choice for you to travel with SOB IR Zurich to Göschenen. No reservation for bycycle space but check if you have restrictins with a “Sparpreis” ticket.

It makes little sense to take the IC, as you will have to change to the IR service at Arth-Goldau, or at Erstfeld (latest). Therefore, I suggest you to use the IR46 from Zurich. For IR trains, a reservation is not possible; bicycles will be transported if space is available (no guarantee). Same for the trains from Göschenen to Oberalp Pass via Andermatt, operated by Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn.

Expect a high number of bicycles if you travel on a Sunday morning, especially with good weather. Whenever you can, travel in the afternoon.

Unfortunately I can not help you, but I have the same issue with the train from Basel to Sankt-Moritz. Tickets and bike passes are OK, but it seems impossible te make a bike reservation.
So I follow the conversation.

Probabably same isuue: You can reserve bycycle space for IC Basel - Zurich - Chur 2 month before your travel date. When travelling with IR trains no reservation for bycycle space. Please check for any restriction for Chur to St. Moritz on RhB.
