We are a family of 4 (2 adults, 19yrs, 14yrs). We have 3 Swiss Half Fare Card and 1 Swiss Family Card. When purchasing train tickets in SBB…

1. Do I select “Half Fare Travelcard” as the Discount for adult tickets?

2. Do I still need to buy train tickets for my 14-yr old if he travels for free with the Swiss Family Card?

3. If I need to buy my 14-yr old his train tickets, do I select “Junior Travelcard” as the Discount? If not, what discount do I select so he travels free?

Yes, for those who hold the Swiss Half Fare Card, you can buy tickets at half fare (½) for travel in Switzerland.

For the 14-years old, you are not required to buy additional tickets. It travels for free when accompanied by a parent and the parent holds at the same time a valid ticket.

Where is there data about “how to get family card”?

I see in SBB site they sell juniour card for 30chf per year per child, which is equivalent to the family card, so I don’t understand the differences

The Swiss Family Card is complimentary and is available when you as parents purchase a Swiss Travel Pass or the Swiss Half Fare Card.

For those who are neither in possession of a Swiss Travel Pass or a Swiss Half Fare Card, there is the Junior Card for CHF 30 per child, valid 1 year. For tourists, the Junior Card is issued as paper ticket while for residents, the Junior Card is on the SwissPass card.
