As a tourist, you can use the SBB Mobile app to look up schedules of all public transport services in Switzerland. You can also purchase class upgrades and tickets for stretches for which the Swiss Travel Pass is not valid or grants a discount only. We gladly give further instructions on that (for example, how you can set the half fare option).
However, whenever you read SwissPass Card, simply ignore the message; it is relevant for residents that use the travel cards.
Are you using a Swiss Travel Pass that inlcudes a certain number of consecutive days? This pass does not have to be activated. It is valid from midnight of the first day of validity as chosen by you during purchase. An activation would be required if you hold the Swiss Travel Pass FLEX, only.
