Hello Feenuetoa36
As I said before, seat reservations for IC and IR trains are very uncommon in Switzerland.
For us, the Swiss, the trains are mass transit. Thus we show up at the station, look up for the next train to our destination, get on the train, and have an empty seat. Nobody would bother with seat reservations. You can easily save that money. Had you let us know your itinerary, we could have told you more on the seat load factor.
When you look up the connection in the SBB Mobile app, you can see three human icons. Only when they show three red humans, you should worry about a fully booked train.

To make a seat reservation, you simply enter the from/to destinations, select a connection and them choose the option ‘Seat reservation only’ from the list of ticket options.
Kind regards,
Roland
