Zurich Airport to Lauterbrunnen

I need a ticket from Zurich to Lauterbrunnen on 29 March, returning 4 April
Im only doing these 2 trips
As far as I can see, there is no discount ticket I can get? The price of CHF170 return is quite a lot!
I can only get Day Saver if I have a Half Fare card, but that doesn’t seem to be worth getting an annual Half Fare card if only for 2 trips, the cost is too high. Is there any way I can pay less?

When I have tried to book, it didn’t ask my return date/time? Does it not matter?

If I book a specific train but flight is slightly delayed, will it be a problem if I get a later train?

Do I need to get a Swiss Pass? I don’t see what the benefit is if Im not travelling a lot

You seem to mixing up facts.

→ First of all, a Half Fare Card is not mandatory to purchase Saver Day Passes; it can be purchase without, simply choose the right Saver Day Pass (without Half Fare Card)

→ You are travelling the Easter weekend where thousands of people will travel as well. Thus, there is good reason for a high demand for tickets, this explains the higher ticket costs for Saver options (if available at all). You should not hope for inexpensive travel cost on the most busiest weekend of the year, in particular when you intend to travel on Good Friday and Easter Monday.

For 29 March, the most inexpensive ticket is a regular point-to-point ticket at CHF 84.80. This allows you to travel on any connection / train on that train, no matter if you arrive at the airport with a delay. The cost of a Saver Day Pass is CHF 96 for that day, so this is not an option. Do not use Supersaver tickets, these are no longer valid in case of a flight delay.

For 4 April, you could book a Saver Day Pass at CHF 52 (if you book it today, its price will certainly go up soon.
