Recently (06.02.2024) i bought a swiss travel pass of 4 days for CHF 295 for my wife from luzern train station. Unfortunately for me i lost the original card before she arrived therefore i contacted SBB customer care, she sent me the receipt with all the information and told me i can use this instead, however to make sure not to get in to trouble i went to trainstation and they said its lost money cannot be reprinted or refunded, i used SBI chat and again was told i can use the one i got from the email.i called SBB customer care for the second time and was told i can try SBB Zurich they can the ticket print it for me, i came to sbb zurich all the way from luzern, was told its lost money, cannot pull her data and print it. Why am i give false hope when they cannot print it again? And why is the customer care center able to pull the ticket data when the SBB station counter cannot? Does not make sense to me. Its like everyone is trained to say lost money.

Tickets bought at the counter are printed on special security paper. If you lose that, it is as if you lose a banknote. You will not get a replacement from the bank in that case either.

Otherwise anyone could just claim they had lost the ticket, take their receipt to the counter, and get another one printed, and thus get 2 (or more) for the price of one. SBB does not want that to happen obvioulsy.

That is why traditional printed tickets must be treaded as if they were money.
