Zurich to Salzburg

I’m just about to complete the final details of our upcoming trip to Switzerland (2 weeks) and Austria (1 week)
We were last in Switzerland in 2019, Covid restricted our return, looking forward to our visit in a few months.

We are planning to catch the RJX train, from Zurich, I understand all RJX trains travel via the scenic Arlberg Pass, is this correct?

When we book and reserve our seats from Zurich to Salzburg, we do not change trains at Buchs SG? it’s the same train from Zurich to Salzburg?

We will be purchasing the Half Fare Pass, when having a look at the prices I can’t see the option of clicking on an icon for the Zurich - Buchs SG section of the trip to accept the Half Fare Card. Perhaps I need to purchase the Half Fare Card’s first via the SBB website? And then buy the tickets?

Yes.

Yes, it is the same train, no change in Buchs SG needed.

The ticket can be purchased without possessing the (Swiss) Half Fare Card, yet. However, you first have to select a connection, then enter passenger details (including the reduction type) before the half fare is displayed.

For Supersaver and Saver offers (Supersparpreis & Sparpreis Angebote) the (Swiss) Half Fare Card is not applicable as their offers are already discounted by default.

I have another question please.

I have booked two tickets for my trip Zurich to Salzburg my wife and I are travelling first class.
For seat reservation I have booked via OBB for the Buchs SG to Salzburg leg, we have chosen Business class seats in coach 27. This coach has a mixture of First and Business class.

I can’t see an option in SBB for the Zurich to Buchs leg to reserve a seat, we were hoping to sit in the same seats for the whole journey. I think I read somewhere seat reservation is only available on the panoramic type trains, is this correct?

You should have been able to reserve all the way form Zürich to Salzburg on OBB. You do not need to reserve the different parts separately.
Anyway, you can already go and sit in your seats in Zürich. In Switzerland these are treated as normal 1st class.
