I purchased an 8 day travel pass flex for this coming May - how can I access this on my mobile phone? I’d like to put it in my apple wallet

You have to activate it for every single day you want to use it. You can deactivate a travel day agaib until midnight the day before.

Am I able to access the pass through the sbb app or is the only way through the above link https://www.activateyourpass.com/? I’m looking for a way to quickly access the pass to activate it each day.

Once I activate a pass for a day, am I then able to add it to my apple wallet?

You can access your Swiss Travel Pass Flex anytime on the website where you have activated the pass. Whether you can add it to the wallet, I can’t say; I can’t remember if I have ever seen a Swiss Travel Pass Flex shown by a passenger in their wallet. The Swiss Travel Pass Flex is rarely used, compared to other ticket offers.

What you can do, activate the pass and make a screenshot, then show the screenshot of the QR-Code.

Please note, you must always present your physical passport when being asked during the ticket check. Passport copies or photos on your phone of it are not accepted.

I have the same question as BeckyH. If I understand RolandP’s reply, the Travel Pass doesn’t appear on my SBB mobile app until and unless I activate a travel day. Is that correct? And I cannot activate a travel day from the mobile app – only from the additional website, activateyourpass.com. Again, is that correct?

So, please explain the “Enter travelcard” function in my SBB mobile app. It appears when I click on the QR icon at the bottom of the page. If I click on “Enter travelcard”, it gives me the option to add a GA Travelcard in either 1st of 2nd class, but then there is no opportunity to enter any information that would identify the Travelcard as mine. Is the GA Travelcard different from the Swiss Travel Card Flex I just bought? And why won’t it let me add a second Travelcard (I bought one for my wife also)?
Finally, there is mention of a SwissPass. I assume that is different from the Travelcard I just bought, but why would I want to add a SwissPass to my mobile app; would that make it any easier to display my Travel Pass Flex on my mobile app; and is it even possible for me – a tourist who resides in the United States – to obtain a SwissPass (which sounds, from what I am reading) like a physical card)?

Sorry, I probably wasn’t clear enough.

None of the touristic offers, to which the Swiss Travel Pass and Swiss Travel Pass Flex do belong, do ever appear in the SBB Mobile app. The Swiss Travel Pass can be added to the wallet, as it is sent by e-mail and there is also a button for adding it to the wallet. For the Swiss Travel Pass Flex, I am not sure if you can as well. I do not have access to the activation website.

The activation solely happens through the website you have mentioned, from where you can generate the QR code valid for the activated day. You can take screenshots of it and save them as images in your photo gallery. Make sure you have it activated before you hop on a public transit.

On days on which you use the STP Flex, you can tick the “GA travel card” box of the respective travel class in the SBB Mobile app.

You can find the setting when you do a dummy booking. Above the ticket offers, there is a pen to modify your traveller’s data. Click it to do the necessary seetings. For your wife, add her as co-passenger under tab Profile > Co-Traveler. To the same setting for her.

By doing so, the app will know that you both have a country wide valid travel pass, and it would only charge you for journeys which are not covered by your pass or for class upgrades in case you hold a 2nd class pass. Don’t forget to uncheck for days you do not have a pass and you therefore need to purchase regular tickets.

Ignore SwissPass and other travel cards settings, these are for residents / commuters only.

One further question: Do I show the travel pass to the ticket-seller to get a ticket for the train, or just show it to the conductor when she comes through the train to collect tickets?

For journeys for which the pass covers the ride a 100%, you simply show the pass to the conductor. Make sure the pass has been activated before entering the train / bus / tramway / boat.

For journeys where the pass grants a discount only, you have to show your activated pass to the agent at the ticket window (e.g. at the cable car base station) in order to get a ticket.
