Ticket and seat reservation question

I just noticed something that might be a problem regarding OBB tickets and seat reservation for my wife and me. On one part of our trip we are going from Luzerne to Salzburg. On a separate day we are going from Salzburg to Vienna. Both of us have train tickets that I printed for both trips. I believe the ticket system forced me to make seat reservations as well as the ticket purchase. Based on the documentation that I printed I have a seat reservation but only one number for a seat (fenster?) in my name on the Luzerne to Salzburg journey. However, for the journey from Salzburg to Vienna under the word fenster it shows two numbers which I assume to be seat numbers. Did I make a mistake with my reservation or am I misunderstanding what the tickets are telling me. If I did something wrong I will need some guidance on what to do. Thank you.

Did you one ticket per trip (good for two persons) or do you have on ticket per trip per person (so either two or four tickets in total)?

Normally when booking in OBB you would get one ticket, good for two persons, with two reservations if you choose to get those. You will not have seat reservations for the Luzern - Zurich part.

I am not sure I fully understand your response but here is what I have. For the Luzern to Salzburg journey there are two printed pages for the train tickets. My name is on one page and her name is on the other page. Then there is a third that at the top it says “Reservierung Railjet Xpress.” Further down on the page it says “seat reservation” and “fenster 46.” Only my name is on the top this third page.

Then, for the Salzburg to Vienna trip there are two printed pages for the train tickets. My name is on one page and her name is on the other page. There is a third page that says “Reservierung Railjet Xpress.” Further down on the page it says “seat reservation” and “fenster 81 82.” Only my name is on the top this third page. Because this page shows two numbers that seems to mean two seats. So this makes me worry that I may only have one seat reserved for the train from Luzern to Salzburg. If this is so, I don’t know how I would have only one seat reserved since I do have two tickets for the train. Do you think I only have one seat reservation for the Luzern to Salzburg trip? If so, what do I do? Thank you.

If you have made a booking with ÖBB, I advise you to contact ÖBB concerning your seat reservations. In order to give you the correct answer, an agent has to look into your booking; this can only be done by an agent of ÖBB railways.

There is no direct train Luzern to Salzburg. The journey consists of two parts:

IR train, Luzern - Zürich HB (no seat reservations possible - free seating)
RJX train, Zürich HB to Salzburg (seat reservation possible)

For the Zürich HB to Salzburg part, it looks like you have got one seat reservation only, instead of two. I conclude my answer from what you describe. Please clarify with ÖBB railways (do not post any ticket related documents on this platform, for privacy reasons).

I just sent a message through the online customer service portal. I provided all ticket information I currently have. I want to avoid making a telephone call because I did not intend to set up my telephone for international calling until we make our trip. I would end up spending more money on the telephone call than the price of the seat reservation.
Do you know how responsive OBB is to messages they receive? Since the trip is not until April I can wait a little while for a response.

If I do not hear back by next Monday would I be better off to go back into ticketing and purchase two seat reservations for the trip from Zurich to Salzburg and just not use the seat reservation I currently have? Thank you.

Unfortunately, I have no idea how long it will take. I sent once a message to them which was about their timetable and therefore quite complex, it took them 14 days to respond. I hope your question is much easier to answer.

@RomanoS Can the SBB Contact Center look up seat reservations for the RailJet ÖBB trains from Zurich that were still made through ÖBB?

I heard back today from OBB regarding the seat reservations for the portion of the trip from Zurich HB to Salzburg. We do have two seats reserved. For some reason they only display one number instead of both. We are beside each other. I thought you might want to know this information in case it ever comes up again.
