Saver day pass

I am travelling to Switzerland for the first time and need some input.

Is saver day pass almost the same as Swiss pass especially with respect to travelling by train except that saver day pass is applicable only for the selected day and there may not be discounted price where it cannot be used. Is there anything else that I need to be aware of?

I am planning to travel by Glacier Express and Bernina Express, is the base price for these 2 train rides covered except the seat reservation?

I also plan to travel from Bern to Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen via Interlaken, is this route covered under the saver day pass?

Appreciate any guidance.

Yes, what concerns trains, buses, trams, and boats, the Saver Day Pass offers the same validity. However, not so for the mountain excursions where the Swiss Travel Pass (not SwissPass) may offer dicsounts while the Saver Day Pass does not (and is not valid at all).

Yes, the Saver Day Pass covers the journey from Bern to Grindelwald. See the validity map here (section Downloads):

The Saver Day Pass is not valid to First or Kleine Scheidegg, for example.

Is the Saver Day Pass the best ticket in any case? It depends. Given the fact that its price is raising the higher the demand and the nearer the day of travel, a regular point-to-point ticket could do as well. Compare tickez costs for each journey on www.sbb.ch

For children, the Junior card (paper ticket from the counter) is a great bargain. Alternatively, the Day Pass Children.

Thanks for your lovely words.

Your assumption is right: the SDP can be used on any PE train 🙂 For the Glacier Express, the additional seat reservation is mandatory.
