Hello Koungongairr12
I love Mayrhofen, it is a place that I have been when I was a child. I still remember the great food, especially the Kaiserschmarrn with plum jam that they had there. A sweet, you must taste it!
Yeah, Valbella is fine as well. If you stay in Chur, it means you have to travel to an area to go hiking. When you choose a “mountain” resort, you are already there. It is up to you.
Viamala gorge and Tamina gorge are both close to Chur, if you want to experience a hike that is all about water and mother nature’s power. Also, the Heidi village, where the famous film was taken, is near.
Do you plan to go to Zermatt via Zurich? Just to say, the travel on the direct Glacier Express would be more convenient and definitely more scenic. The food that is served on the train is freshly cooked in the dining car and delicious. Alternatively, you could purchase some items at the Migros store behind Chur train station and make yourself a pick-nick on the train while the landscape is passing by. That what we Swiss do 🙂
Best regards,
Roland
