Connection in Chiasso

When we looked up the tickets on SBB.ch from Engelberg to Milano Centrale, it showed there were two transfers. The first one was in Luzern and the second one was in Lugano.

After we bought the tickets, we noticed in the itinerary there was a 4 min connection (11:26 – 11:31) in Chiasso to get on to TRENORD 25517 to Milano Centrale.

Can you please let me know if we will have to change platforms and if we have enough time for “ticket inspection” and “check-in”?

All fine with your tickets. Your ticket to Chiasso, the border station, is also valid for the train from Lugano to Milan.

You have to change trains in Lucerne and in Lugano. In Lugano you have to change from platform 2 to platform 1.

What happened here is that the system split the ticket in order to give you the best price. So you have a separate ticket for the Swiss and the Italian part of the trip. But in Chiasso you just stay on the train…
