Hi, can i buy a SDP and use it from Lauterbrunnen all the way to Luzern and around the Bernese Oberland Region? I’m asking because when I checked the SBB app and web and entered Lauterbrunnen to Luzern or Grindelwald or Kleine Schdegg, the only ticket option is Point to Point ticket. We are staying in Lauterbrunnen for a couple of nights and intend to buy Saver Day Passes to travel around Bernese Oberland .

It depends if they are still available. If they are, they are probably more expensive than a point-to-point ticket, that’s why the system is not offering it.

The Saver Day Pass is not very useful in the Jungfrau area, as it does not cover Grindelwald / Wengen to Jungfraujoch or Grindelwald to First. The Saver Day Pass does not cover mountain excursions (with a few exceptions: of Mt. Rigi, Mt. Stanserhorn, Mt. Rochers-de-Naye, Stoos, Klewenalp). The Jungfrau Pass, or the Bernese Oberland Pass, might be more useful.

Also, you should consider the Swiss Half Fare Card in addition. It allows purchasing tickets (and the Saver Day Pass) as well as mountain excursion tickets at reduced fare. And, it comes with the complimentary Swiss Family Card for free travel for kids:

Thanks Roland. I purchased a Half Fare Card and thanks for letting me know that SDP is not really useful around Bernese Oberland. It’s confusing because it says with SDP you can travel anywhere within Switzerland, however, not useful around Wengen/ Grindelwald, it’s a contradiction. We won’t be going to touristy Grindelwald First, we prefer exploring a typical, quite villages.

The Saver Day Pass, as any other national day pass including the Swiss Travel Pass, allows unlimited travel to all inhabited places (where people do live on 365 days) in Switzerland. Mountain excursions are touristic offers, for which (with a few exceptions) you have to pay extra.

The Saver Day Pass still offers great value for little money; you can take any train / bus / boat / tramway at your desire for one full day.

The Jungfrau area is touristy, it has got world renomee due to its iconic mountains.
