Train ticket to switzerland from & to another country

So i have done some research and know that with Swiss travel pass, you can take the trains for free without buying extra tickets. However, i will be going to Grindelward from Paris, and from Geneva to Florence. Does the swiss pass includes these? If not, how should i buy my tickets? Should i buy the train ticket from Paris to the station at the border of switzerland, and use my travel pass to get to Grindelward, and the same way for going to Florence.

Johnnch If you make other journeys in Europe, a Global Eurail Pass could be better as a Swiss Travel Pass:

Johnnch Sorry but I do not understand. You mentioned journeys to Paris and Florence, it is not possible to use the Swiss Travel Pass in these countries and you would have to buy tickets from the border.

Danhiel I searched for the train tickets on SBB timetable, and i can buy the ticket from Paris to Grindelward. If i am holding a Swiss Travel Pass, i should only buy the ticket to the border instead, and show my Pass to get on the train to Grindelward right?

Johnnch Yes, it is right. You should only buy a ticket from Paris to the border station, Basel or Geneva, and use the Swiss Travel Pass to Grindelwald.

From Geneva to Florence, you can buy a ticket from the border station, Domodossola. Please note that engineering works are planned this summer on this line with replacement busses. It will be better to travel via Lucerne or Zurich and Chiasso to Milan, you can also use your pass on this route until Chiasso, the border station.

The Swiss Pass covers travel in Switzernald. It does not cover travel outside of Switzerland. Forget however what was said about the Eurail Pass, as that would not be a good option for you in this case either.

For your first trip, Paris to Grindelwald, just buy a ticket Paris - Basel. Than in Basel you just continue to Grindelwald, showing your Swiss Pass to the conductor when requested.

Regarding the trip to Florence: The way to go about this is to just book Geneva - Florence with SBB, and indicate that you have a “GA” (General Abonnement). That way you will not be charged for the Swiss part of the trip.

Which places are your visiting in Switzelrand? Geneva is not a good place to end your trip if you are continuing to Italy, because of the works on the Simplon route. If you can rearrange your visit so that you end up somewhere near the Gotthard route you will have an easier onward trip.
