Problem purchasing half fare Tirano to St Moritz ticket

Hi all,
once again thank you for taking the time to help people like me out.

I am having problems booking a 13.17 Bernina express train ticket on 4th June 2024 from Tirano to St Moritz from both the SBB and Rhaetian websites.

It processes it just fine until one hits the “Send to cart” icon as it goes to the cart and I get a message saying the cart is empty.

Any idea why it is doing this please? I have not purchased the half fare card yet but will do so soon, just want to get tickets sorted first.

Forgot to mention the time of travel prior to going to cart comes up with 19.17 (or similar) instead of 13.17 as chosen. Seems like a bug in the system??

I have just tried also to book St Moritz to Chur for 10.02am on 8th June and when processed is coming up as 18.02 just before payment.

This is very strange.

Can you check whether your computer uses the automatic time change setting? See Windows settings. Activate the automatic time change setting, then it should work.

Thanks very much Roland for your advice. The time change should be ok as it didn’t have a problem regarding departure/arrival times with the Trenitalia website when I booked the Italian legs of my trip.

But I’ll double check just in case.

It has nothing to do with Trenitalia.

It is a persisting software bug in the SBB ticket shop, and it was noticed that the bug only appears when people did not have the automatic time change setting activated in Windows.

As another workaround, you can also use the Trenitalia ticket shop, or the DB ticket shop (www.bahn.de/en) to purchase tickets for Switzerland.

I looked into the automatic international time zone setting and that doesn’t seem to be the problem. My son is an IT network engineer and he doesn’t seem to think that’s the issue and seems to be a problem elsewhere.

The Trenitalia booking work around does work but they don’t have the half travel card option for the Swiss trains unfortunately.

Any other suggestions would be invaluable.

You could also try on www.thetrainline.com and indicate your reduction card before booking, A small booking fee is added on this site.

Thanks Roland for the link. Yes this is what we did but to no avail. Switched it on both on my PC and also my phone but my son thinks it’s more than just this.

A few days ago sbb appeared to be doing some maintenance work on their site so maybe they’ve triggered something inadvertently?

Trenitalia works ok but doesn’t allow half fare card. Trainline site also works ok and allows half fare card but doesn’t appear to be able to book Bernina express (not a major issue anyway as Bernina is considerably more expensive with reservations cost).

I have reported the issue to SBB after finally finding a way to report things to them.

So much unnecessary frustration.
