Alam8 I am trying to book for May 4th 2024 from Tirano to Chur (13:00) but not finding the seat reservation option as stated in the help section “How to book a Seat” when scrolling down. Also, my bank card keeps getting rejected even though all info is correct. Any quick help will be greatly appreciated. Thx!
Danhiel Alam8 Tirano is the first station of the line, the train is empty and has enough cars, most people get on later. Please note that you have to change twice in Pontresina and Samedan with the 13:00 service.
Krist The 13:00 departure is a set of normal regional trains for which reservation is not possible. If you want the direct Bernina Express this leaves 14:24, and to reserve seats on that you need to do this on www.rhb.ch If you are having issues with your bank card being rejected you need to talk to your bank.
Alam8 Krist Thank you for the quick reply! So, if I buy the ticket, seating will not be an issue? I really wanted the Bernina Express but they are sold out for that date (seat-wise). I have checked with my bank and they say, my card already has 3D support as someone else mentioned in another thread. I will try different means of payment. My main concern is with the seating. I don’t want to travel for 4 hours standing or learning that I can’t board once I get to the station because I did not reserve seat.
Alam8 Danhiel Thank you! I was worried that seats may not be available due to high season and since Bernina is sold out for May 4th, people may opt for this route like I am doing. Hopefully, connections at Pontresina and Samedan would not be a problem either. 🤞
Danhiel I want to ask something to the community: Is it possible to board the Bernina Express without reservation in the three first cars? These cars are not panoramic. I also asked the customer service of the RhB and I will give you an official answer.
Danhiel I have a confirmation of the Rhaetian Railways. You can use the Bernina Express without reservation in the non-panoramic cars. These three cars are in the front of the train. They have also motors to pull the panoramic cars and a cabin for the driver.
