Saver Day Pass validity

Question for the community:
If I purchase a Saver Day Pass ticket from Tirano to Chur, can I use that to catch a train from Chur to Zurich (same day) or do I need to buy another ticket to Zurich?

Alam8 Yes, you can use your Saver Day Pass to Zurich, it is also valid on public transport in Zurich (tramways, buses, S-Bahn).

If you are going from Tirano to Zurich you do not buy a ticket from Tirano to Chur and a separate ticket from Chur to Zurich. You can always buy a through ticket between any two points.

So on www.sbb.ch you should look up “Tirano” to “Zurich”, and when you then proceed to purchase you will notice that the Saver Day Pass is probably offered as cheapest option.

Krist It is more expensive on www.sbb.ch site. CHF 97 (to Zurich) vs, 88 (to Chur) 1st Class.
That means if I purchase a Saver Day Pass ticket for Chur it may be valid to use on the Zurich train.
What am I missing? The website is very confusing.

Alam8 First, you should define the participants, without any reduction. By default the system shows prices with a Half Fare Travelcard. I agree, this is confusing.

After this, select the timetable from Tirano to Zurich with the right date (I chose May 4th), be sure that it is a relation via Chur and not via Milano, select single journey/1st class, you will find these tickets:

Point-to-point ticket: 164 CHF (this price never changes)

Saver Day Pass: 97 CHF (this price is valid only now, it could change every day and passes can be sold out for the chosen date).

It is now cheaper to buy a Saver Day Pass, but it is not refundable and not exchangeable.

Alam8 what you are missing is that you are not buying “a saver day pass ticket for Chur”. What you are doing is looking up times for Tirano to Chur, and the SBB site is proposing you buy a Saver Day Pass as that would be, currently, the cheapest option. If you were to look up Tirano to Zurich for the same day you would see that it would propose the Saver Day Pass as well, and at the same price.
It is a day pass. Good for all public transit in Switzerland. SBB site is just pointing out to you the cheapest option.

In Switzerland we do not have train tickets as such. Tickets are for a route, or for a zone, or for the whole country. If you are doing a significant trip, a ticket for the whole country becomes the best option.

Yes, I am planning to map out travel from Venice to Zurich. I wanted to do Brenina Express but they are sold out so thought I should try different options on the same route as I am doing this purely for scenic views. I can look up the schedule and pick the best schedule that works for me but cannot buy the tickets on sbb.ch as it keeps rejecting my card. I have tried different browsers and bank cards (as was suggested in other threads) but no luck. Look like this may not work out for me anyway. I can buy it on Trenitalia via the long tunnel route but not sure how scenic that route is. No bank card issue there. Staying in Zurich from May 4 to 7. Like to do sightseeing around the area and perhaps a day trip to Interlaken or the Alps are for the view.
