1 month GA and Swiss Family Card

Hi, we will be travelling to Switzerland for a month this July, and I have two questions I’m hoping someone can answer please…

As we live in Australia, if we apply for the 1 month GA online, will it be sent to Australia (perhaps costing an additional charge), or can it only be sent to an address in Switzerland?

Also, if we have 2 adult 1 month GAs, does our 7 year old son need a youth GA as well or as he will be travelling with us at all times, does he not need to pay anything? I read on the various pages that children 6-16 travel free if accompanied by an adult with a valid ticket, which I guess the 1 month GA is. Or do we need to get a complimentary Swiss Family Card as well?

I suggest to buy the tickets at the counter once you arrive in Switzerland. There is no need or advantage buying them in advance. Monthly GA for tourists are printed on paper if I am not mistaken. Someone from my colleagues will be able to provide further information. In any case, please bring a passport photo with you.

The Swiss Family card is only available with a Swiss Travel Pass, yet not with the monthly GA. You can buy the Junior Card instead, it costs CHF 30, valid 1 year, and is printed on paper. It has the same range of validity as the Swiss Family Card and can be used together with the monthly GA provided a parent is traveling with the child.

The 1 month GA card is only issued on the SwissPass and this is sent to an address in Switzerland. We recommend redeeming the offer directly on site in Switzerland and obtaining a temporary SwissPass.

The junior-card can be issued on paper for tourists. We recommend takingthis offer, as the Family Card is only available in combination with the Swiss Travel Pass.

We just left after a month and tried to buy a GA monthly card in Lauterbrunnen, Bern, and Geneva SBB offices. No one would sell us one because we are not citizens. I know other non citizens were able to purchase. Any ideas on how to get a card for next visit? Thank you
