Tickets rules for routes

Hello.

I’ve a ticket related question. I’ve installed the app and I want to buy ticket that will let me go from Geneva to Bern and back (return route). It seems like there are regular prices and special prices (which sometimes allows you to travel at half the price), but I’m not sure on when/where I can use those tickets.

Suppose I run a search for tickets on 01/05/2024 from 08:25 onward. I can see that there’s an IC1 and an IR15 which leave at different times. If I buy a ticket for the IC1 train leaving at 08h42, can I use that ticket for boarding the IR15 which departs at 08:59 (assume that for some reason I’ve had a problem and lost the IC1)? If not, can I use the ticket for boarding a later IC1 (there’s another one departing at 09h42)? Are there different rules between regular point-to-point and super saver tickets?

Btw, If I pick the IC1 and choose the return option, must I catch the same IC1 on the way back or can I take any train on the route Bern->Geneva?

If you buy a return point-to-point ticket, you can make one trip between Geneva and Bern and one trip between Bern and Geneva on the same day in every train. It is not necessary to buy this ticket in advance, but it is refundable until the day before departure.

If you buy a Supersaver ticket, you must use the chosen train. These tickets are not exchangeable and not refundable.

For a day trip, a Saver Day Pass could be cheaper. They are not exchangeable and not refundable. You can use every train. If you don’t have an Half Fare Travelcard, be sure to select the full price (also for the tickets, by default the half price is displayed):
