Hello Mehreen
No, that’s not sufficient, the ticket inspectors cannot scan it. The card is the same as when you use the TNW app, simply non-digital. Abonnements that are managed by TNW are not available in your SBB client database. TNW and SBB use two independent IT systems.
When you purchase the TNW Abo, you have got the choice to store it either on the U-Abo App/card, or on the SBB SwissPass card. Only in the latter case, it is scannable from your SwissPass card or SBB Mobile app.
Furthermore, when you forget your abo at home, and your abo is stored on the SwissPass, SBB can check your abo online, and you simply pay 5 CHF on the train. When you have it stored in the TNW app or the TNW card, the SBB train crew cannot see it and will therefore issue a form; you have to show your abo later at the SBB counter, and pay CHF 5. If you don’t go to the counter, you will get an invoice at home of at least CHF 90 plus the ticket cost.
How to have it on the SwissPass? Next time you have to renew your abo, simply go to the SBB counter and tell them you wish to use it on your SwissPass.
TNW is the only tariff network where its tickets can be stored on their own app, while it is not synced with the SwissPass. Why? Well, TNW decided to use their own independent inventory and sales IT system.
