Why can’t I make a seat reservation for a specific route and date, yet I could purchase a ticket for the same route and date - I don’t have to buy a ticket because I have the Swiss Travel Pass, but it seems the only way to ensure a seat is to buy a ticket.

What route would you like to book? Is it a Panorama Express? Try this accordingly on the respective homepage of the PE.
All other connections can be reserved here. If you are travelling in a Eurocity (EC), please contact a sales point.
