Halbtax expired and daily tickets

Hoi hoi,
I purchased a monthly tourist halbtax for my mother and paid for 7 × 24 hour tickets to use in Zurich. We have used 3 of the 24 hour tickets, and the halbtax expires tonight.

Does my mother need a valid halbtax to use the additional 4 × 24 hour tickets?

Yes.
The Half Fare Card has to be valid when the ticket is used, not at the time the ticket is purchased.
