I’m organising a trip for a group of Scouts to Switzerland this summer, to be staying in Kandersteg. There’s 23 of them in total, all under 25, and whilst the odd time they’ll be travelling together, they’ll primarily be travelling in smaller groups - anything from 4 to 16 - specifically they’ll be 4, 7, 13, 16, and 23 for each one return trip each. These trips will be into Interlaken, Thun, Brig, Interlaken and then Adelboden (by bus) respectively.
I’m thinking the best solution for this to get them the Friends Day Pass for Youth, as it also offers them the flexibility if plans change and they need different time trains, etc. Does that sounds like the sensible easy / cheapest solution here? I know I maybe could do it cheaper for the 13 if I did 12 via the group ticket and one seperately, but that is a trip we’d particularly like to keep flexible on the timings if possible, as they’re heading to the water park.
The second part of my question is about seat reservations - is this something that’s even possible on these more rural, shorter routes? If it is, is it something that’d be advised? I’m cautious 23 on a bus could quickly fill it if it’s only a single decker, especially if there’s other groups trying to go that way too. From what I can tell there should an “R” on the website to show reservations are possible, but I’m not sure where abouts exactly I should expect to see that - would it be next to the catering symbols (if applicable)? I’m also struggling to understand from the occupany legend how busy they’ll be, as I don’t see those symbols elsewhere.
Thanks in advance!
