Italian EU Elections 2024 8-9June

Hello,
In the weekend of the 8/9 June there will be EU elections in EU countries.
Italy provides an “Italian Elector” tariff for residents abroad to come back and vote.

Is it possible to buy a ticket with this tariff? I did not find it online, but maybe at the counter it is available? I think the last time it was possible to get it at the counter. Could somebody confirm?

This tariff is only available with Trenitalia, e.g. on Trenitalia.com

We also do speak Italian.

Hi I have the same issue. Italian electors are entitled to buy with a discount (see https://www.trenitalia.com/it/informazioni/elettori.html) but neither SBB not Trenitalia webpage have a function allowing to activate this discount online. It seems very poor service with lack of coordination……

Plumiontio92 Hi, I experienced the same and was ultimately able to make it work but unfortunately it seems like this is valid on the Italian train route only. You should try to select a/r and pick ‘Elettori’ under ‘Altre Offerte’ (somehow doesn’t work when selecting one way only).

Yes, the Trenitalia website does not show the tariff Elettori from Zuerich, despite clearly stated
stating that this line should also benefit:
“Per i residenti all’estero è prevista la tariffa Italian Elector (viaggi internazionali da/per l’Italia a bordo dei treni Eurocity Italia-Svizzera).”

I was hoping SBB could help with this connection, since they are generally more reliable. RolandP do you confirm that we cannot purchase this from SBB?

Working for SBB, I do not know anything about these special fares offered by SBB, too. I would have to check.

You could ask SBB by calling their Contact Center for a faster reply: 0848 44 66 88 (CHF 0.08/min, waiting times may occur).

Zezaishad76 thanks for the answer! Really insane there is no way to find good info on this online!
I still don’t manage to buy it though, no matter if I try with Zurich or with Chiasso starting point. Super annoying 🙁
Also I have no idea who these “authorized” vendors could be.

As earlier said, I now have got the official confirmation from SBB that these tickets are solely available with Trenitalia. Please reach out to them if you cannot purchase the tickets through Trenitalia.
