Swisspass usage

We are only in Switzerland for 4 days, but going from Zurich to Lauterbrunnen and then ending our trip from Lauterbrunnen to Paris via Basel. I think the Swisspass is the best option for us since we’re going to be also travelling around Switzerland. My question is do we use the Swisspass to go to Paris or are we using the Swisspass for the portion that gets us as far as Basel and then we buy a separate ticket from Basel to Paris?

The actual SwissPass is a physical ID card with a NFC chip intended for Swiss residents, which can hold a variety of different passes or tickets and also can be used as a prepaid debit card for buying tickets at vending machines or travel centers.

So most probably not what you meant in your query, therefore you might want to be a tad more specific about what kind of pass exactly you’re actually referring to.

You are probably refering to the Swiss Travel Pass.

Whether the Swiss Travel Pass is the best option? Yes, if you spent around CHF 75 per day on full fare tickets. Otherwise, the Swiss Half Fare Card and individual tickets might be a cheaper option. With so little info on your itinerary, no serious advice is possible.

No, the Swiss Travel Pass, as it has the word Swiss in its name, is solely valid on the Swiss rail network, as a consequence, it covers your travel from Lauterbrunnen to Basel SBB.

We purchaced two swis passes. Then got the apps. The apps ask for customer numbers, and we don’t know where we get the customer numbers.

When you did buy the Swiss Travel Passes as a guest, and not as a registered user, you cannot add them to the SBB Mobile app. Simply show the PDF, together with your physical passport. You can still use the timetable feature in the SBB Mobile app and purchase upgrade tickets.

If you purchased it as a registered user, then login with your username and password.
