Swiss Half fare pass and co-passenger birthdates

😀Hi, I’m in Australia and have just bought my Swiss Half Fare Card (SHFC) for my family and I for July this year, I bought the SHFC for my husband and I, and then we got the Swiss Family Card for both our children.
On the SBB app, my co-passenger’s birthdays are correct, however on the website, my co-passenger’s birthdates are incorrect. When I try to change my daughter’s birthday on the website, it says “The date of birth is outside the validity range for the product selected”.
The website allows me to select the ’Children’s Co-Travel card’ but the SBB app only allows me to select the half fare as a discount.
Do the app and website not align to each other? I am logged into both with the same user name and password.
How do I enter the Family Pass/the children’s co-travel card on the app as that will be how I book ticket when we are in Switzerland? We’ll also have the Bernard Oberland Pass.

The Swiss Family Card is the child’s ticket. You do not need to purchase additional tickets for the children when you have the Swiss Family Card, at least not for trips where the Swiss Family Card is accepted, and this is the case for almost all public transportation in Switzerland.

The only condition: when a child travels with a Swiss Family Card, then it must be accompanied by at least 1 parent holding a valid ticket.

For all e-tickets, Swiss Half Fare Card, Swiss Family Card, etc. you need your physical (no paper copies, no images of it on smartphones) passport or government ID. An ID check during the ticket check is anytime possible.

Hi Roland, thank you very much for your reply.
Could I confirm that as long as I have the printed Swiss Family Card with me (and our passports), and my children are with my husband and I who have valid tickets, I don’t need to ‘register’ them at all for any train trips? I thought I would have to register them as being on the train. If this is correct, I understand why I don’t have to record them in my app 🙂
If I want to reserve seats for the 4 of us, I can still do this for the children I believe, I just don’t buy them a ticket but buy them a seat?

Yes, you do not need to register them unless you want to reserve a seat for them, which is only necessary for certain panoramic trains (PE trains). The Swiss Family Card is valid in combination with a valid parent ticket.

Our trains are mass transit, like buses in your country, probably: you take the next passing, hop on, have a ride, and hop off at the station you want. If there is no seat left, you have to stand.
