Hi,

I will be visiting Switzerland as a tourist in August. I want to hike the 2 day/1night Europaweg (Grachen to Zermatt). I wanted to send my extra luggage from Grachen to Zermatt so that I do not have to carry it with my on the hike, is this possible? I will not have a train ticket for Grachen to Zermatt.

If not, is there any other options for luggage transfers between stations/locations?

I will either have the 8 day Swiss travel pass or the 1 month half-fare card.

Thank you for your request.

Unfortunately, this is not possible if you do not have a valid ticket as you can see under the following link: Station-to-station luggage | SBB

Luggage can only be checked in if you have a ticket valid for the whole luggage transport route or one of the following annual travelcards: GA Travelcard, Point-to-Point Travelcard, Half Fare Travelcard, Regional Travelcard, FVP (travel discount for SBB employees), seven25 Travelcard, Modular Travelcard.

It is only mandatory to have a train ticket at the moment you submit your luggage order at the station. You do not need to take the train after if you prefer to travel in a different way.

I read this but also read in another community post that this would be possible with a Swiss Travel Pass.

Can I purchase a train ticket, send the luggage, and then not take the train ride?

Are there other luggage transfer options that will work if I own a Swiss Travel Pass?
