Swiss Travel Pass vs GA Card 1 Month

So a GA Card 1 month is cheaper than a 15 day STP.

Majority of the perks are the same for trains bus ferry. I dont mind the museums the only one we wkll go to is Lindt in Zurich.

My question, if i buy either stp or ga one month, does it give me a qr code which is what ill show to the conductor?

I had read the stp is a physical card that is mailed to me after i buy it? so i cant use the qr code instead?

is the ga card th same too? qr code? or have to be a physical card.

Comparing the 1-month GA card and the Swiss Travel Pass is comparing apples and oranges.

The Swiss Travel Pass grants access to 500 museums, which the GA travel card does not; it grants free travel on most public transport services only.

The Swiss Travel Pass, when purchased online, is issued as an e-ticket with a QR code. When purchased at the station, it is issued as a paper ticket.

The 1-month GA travel card is issued as a paper ticket for tourists (without a permanent address in Switzerland / neighbouring countries).

we dont have museums.in our itinerary since the only museum we will go to is lindt in zurich.

so with trains bus and ferry, ga one month is the same as the stp. glad i saw a post about the sale of one month ga card because it is cheaper than the 15 day stp.

you did say ga grants travel on most public transport than stp? i assumed the free transposrt of stp is more or less the same with. i checked the map. please correct me if im wrong.

i keep seeing info that it is only for residents of switzerland.

It is also available for tourists, mostly for those staying more than 15 days. However, it is not always the most benefical pass.

For example, if you have got children aged 6-16, they travel for free when you as parent hold a Swiss Travel Pass (thanks to the complimentary Swiss Family Card).

This is not the case with the 1-month GA card, however. There, each child 6-16 years pays CHF 30 for the additional Junior Card. Thus, it depends on the length of stay and the family situation.

The validity for public transportation is identical. Both grant free travel on most routes; for mountain excursions, see the validity map.

its ok. is only me and my wife. but we are staying for 15 days only. not more.

and since you said more than 15 days then this wont apply to us. please confirm

There is no other option than the 1-month GA travel card for someone who stays longer than 15 days, unless they combine multiple STP’s.

You can purchase no matter the duration of stay. Get it once you are here, from the station.

Thank you for all your responses roland. I think i understand now. And the GA 1 month card is on sale for jun-july only. so this wont apply to me since we are going in october.

Does SBB ever hold promotions for STP?
