Cruise on Lake Lucerne

Hello,

We’ll be stopping at Lucerne for 3-4 hours only. Will we have enough time for a cruise on Lake Lucerne?
We have Savers Day Pass, so I believe the cruise fare shall be covered. Are there any exception?
Where can we find the Lake Lucerne cruise schedules?

Spending 3–4 hours at Lucerne is indeed not much, given the fact that it is the most visited city in our country by tourists, and there is good reason why: it is simply a gem.
You should have planned to stay there a night (and skip Zurich if you have to decide between Zurich and Lucerne, the former is not a must-see for a first-time visitor).

The shortest cruise on Lake Lucerne that tey offer is taking 2.5 hours:

You can get the tickets at the ticket window at the pier, or on the boat itself from the cashier; there is no need to prepurchase (depending on the weather, you might have other plans)

You can do a shorter one, if you go by regular boat service as far as Vitznau and change boats there back to Lucerne. The same would work when you go as far as Weggis.

Hi Roland, Very excited that you could help with the planning. We arrive in Zurich on August 7 at 10:20am. (How long will it take to clear the custom usually? We don’t have checked in luggage)

Depending the time we can get out of the airport, we take a direct train to Lucerne. For 3-4 hours, I am thinking seeing the followings:

Chapel Bridge
Old town (lunch?)
The Lion Monument/Glacier Garden
Finish lucerne by a boat cruise - thinking Wiggis one hour return. I believe the ferry dock is very close to the train station.
We want to head to Murren by 17:06 train as the last cable car from Grutschalp to Murren is at 20:41.

We have Saver Day Passes for this day.

What do you think of this itinerary?

Also, want to ask if it is better to have our carry on transferred to our next stop after Murren, which will be Vevey, or store at Lucerne station for a few hours and take with us to Murren?
