At least the T&C of the Matterhorn Glacier Paradise operator don’t look good at all for you, see the “Exchange, Refund” section, i.e. “force majeure”.
Good luck with STC, maybe you’ll let us know the outcome?
But why on earth would you buy such expensive tickets in advance for an experience which is THAT depending on weather conditions? Due to the continuous operation of cable cars etc., such tickets do never sell out. Never ever. Just the queues at the station might get longer, regardless whether you already have a ticket or not.
Also, on other days like today right now, the wind conditions might be ok (so some cable cars might operate) but the summits are covered in thick clouds, so the only thing you’d see up there is a VERY expensive fog like this (right now while typing this):

Finally, at the railway station ticket office, you were at the wrong end of the village! The very friendly staff at the cable car ticket office (right across the road from the cable car entrance) would most probably have had more accurate first-hand informations, such as possibly short-term local wind/weather forecasts. And they would certainly never sell tickets on a day when everything is closed…
