Is it necessary to have a half fare travel pass to get discount on super saver ticket?

If you want to purchase a discounted (½) Supersaver ticket, you must be in the possession of the Swiss Half Fare Card, and this latest when you use the ticket.

If you travel with a Supersaver ticket without having the Swiss Half Fare Card, the ticket inspector will ask you to pay a hefty surcharge.

If you do not have the Swiss Half Fare Card (which is strongly recommended if you stay a few days in Switzerland and plan mountain excursions), you can and must purchase Supersaver tickets at full fare (1/1).

Not, this is not necessarily. But with the half fare travel pass you get an additional discount.

Thank you for replying. What i am trying to ask is if I book a super saver ticket 3 months in advance then is it mandatory to opt for half fare travel card? Here I don’t want any extra discount on super saver ticket

You can buy supersaver tickets without half fare card. It is just that with half fare card they are even cheaper…
