International purchases

Hi!
I’ve been trying several times to buy a ticket from Aigle to Milan, but when the payment moment comes it appears a message that international purchases are not allowed, I tried with several payment methods but anyone works.
If it’s not possible to buy the tickets with a credit card issued outside Switzerland , what other ways can I use in order to get the train tickets that I need?

You can try again, ticketshop sbb.ch has reported an issue. May be you try to book a ticket from Aigle to Domodossla, and a ticket from Domodossla to Milano for Trenitalia EC replacement bus services. The line Domodossla to Arona is still closed until 8th September 2024.

For which date are you trying to buy a ticket? It may be that you are just trying to buy a ticket to early. That is a source of a lot of confusion…

I cannot book to Strasbourg by the app or website. The app allows me to book to Basel SBB, but prompts me to use the website for international purchases. But the website is not allowing any purchases under my account anymore for some reason (the “Buy” text is in strikethrough, and before that it would flag an error message).

As recently as last month, I (and I assume most users here) was able to use SBB on both the app and website for purchases to and within much of Italy, France, Spain, etc.

I made a test and it worked fine with a direct TER (regional) train from Basel to Strasbourg on sbb.ch. You cannot buy international tickets in the SBB mobile app.

You can also buy the ticket Basel SBB - Strasbourg on sncf-connect.com or in the SNCF Connect mobile app. The tickets are refundable until the day before departure and can be use in every TER train during the day of validity.
